This co-dependency inspired Tellumat Mobile to create the M744 GSM Community telephone, a product at the heart of a dynamic business opportunity.
The M744 GSM Community telephone, remote controller and management system form a robust and secure communications system. It facilitates a franchise (dealer) business model where franchisees (operators) sell airtime in their community. For minimal startup cost, the operator can enjoy an immediate return on investment on a user-friendly telephone. This kind of product has many positive socio-political spin-offs, contributing to the growth of small and medium enterprises (SME) as well as individual operators.
The M744 Community Telephone operates on 900/1800 MHz or 900/1900 MHz GSM networks supporting voice, data and SMS transmission. The controller accommodates up to ten M744 phones in a telecentre environment facilitating operation of the phones from a remote position. The Management Information System controls either prepaid or post paid SIMs in the phones and gives the dealer full control of his business.
Easy to Use, Secure and Flexable
Ease of use
- Large, easy to read, variable contrast LCD indicates time, date, network operator, battery charge and signal strength.
- No operator set-up required.
- PC-driven management system allows the M744 dealer full remote control over the operation of the telephone. The dealer can update all phone settings, including the purse, zone and tariff tables via a WindowsT interface.
- Separate owner and operator sales records for bookkeeping.
- Built-in Li-ion battery provides up to five hours of talk-time and 60hours standby time.
- The telephone includes a 12V charger and can be run from a 12 V car battery.
- A stub antenna and optional external high-gain antenna ensure signal quality.
- Digital hands-free speakerphone.
Secure
- SIM is locked to the phone.
- The network PIN for SIM card is never provided to operator, making SIM card useless if removed from phone.
- Product is dealer PIN protected meaning that another dealer cannot operate a unit he has not sold.
- Secure updating of telephone purse by dealers management system.
- Optional security cover and cable provide a means of securing the unit.
- The telephone can be network locked or even locked to a base station.
Flexible
- Dual band, either 900/1800 MHz or 900/1900 MHz.
- Programmed with detailed zone and rate tables that enable per unit or per second peak and off-peak billing in three time periods, accurate billing of international calls, single SMS updating for a fast unit/rate change.
- Up to ten telephones can be controlled by a single controller. The controller uses a high capacity internal battery. It can also support a receipt printer.
- M744 internal battery ensures operation during power failures and or brown outs.
Mobile Management System
- Due to Tellumat's vast experience in the payphone business, a good understanding of system requirements and user characteristics have contributed to the development of sophisticated management systems with user friendly interfaces.
- Continuous enhancement of the management systems improves customer experience, customer service and decrease the operating costs. Based on the architecture, the system can be customised to cater for specific customer requirements.
- The management system supporting the M744 Community Telephone is simple to install and easy to use. It allows multi-user access and is capable of managing 10 000+ payphone units with effortless configuration and maintenance of the payphone units.
- The Electronic Voucher Dispensing Management system allows the distributor the flexibility of choosing either a dispensing model based on a stock demand request or preloading the M850 with a range of virtual vouchers or a combination of both.
