Ground Based and Airborne Radar Systems

Tellumat (Pty) Limited, formerly Plessey South Africa, has been in the radar and air traffic control (ATC) systems business for over 30 years. Tellumat has developed expertise to install, commission, support and upgrade ground-based radar systems used in civil aviation and military environments.

Installation includes site selection, site preparation, civil works, factory acceptance, commissioning, flight trials and the handing over of systems to the customer.

Tellumat has recently completed the upgrade of the AR3D long-range air defence radar system. The upgrade provides enhanced signal processing and data distribution, which significantly improves the performance and maintainability of the systems.

Tellumat has been involved in the manufacture of sub-assemblies and components for airborne fire control and airborne surveillance radars. Radar displays have also been manufactured for air surveillance systems. Depot-level support facilities are established to support these systems.

Tellumat provides full and extensive logistic support for all of its products and services. The support extends from component level to international end-user support specifically tailored to meet customer requirements. Expertise to develop and implement logistic support plans and logistic engineering has evolved and is also applied in the commercial sector.
